Itinerary:

This is a trip for Over 55's!

  • Start at the parking lot at Lake Louise. There are two parking lots at the Lake. We'll park in the lower one, close to the washroom.
  • We'll hike the trail to Lake Agnes, then ascend to the White/Niblock col as described in Alan Kane's Scrambles in the Canadian Rockies. From there we'll scramble to the summit of Mt Niblock.
  • We'll be looking for snow patches which always seem to linger on this route. We'll practice ascending/descending on snow and self-arrest using an ice axe.
  • We'll descend by the same route - again using snow where it is possible.
  • Distance about 15 kms. Total elevation gain about 1,260 metres. High point 2976 metres.
