Itinerary:

This is a trip for Over 55's!

  • Start at the parking lot at Moraine Lake.
  • We'll hike the trail to Sentinel Pass, then ascend the SW Face and Ridge as described in Alan Kane's Scrambles in the Canadian Rockies. The route is also described in Bill Corbett's book The 11,000ers of the Canadian Rockies.
  • There may be snow of the upper part of the route. We'll take ice axes. Knowledge of self-arrest is mandatory!
  • We'll descend by the same route.
  • Total elevation gain 1,690 metres. High point 3,543 metres.

 


Required Items to Bring:
  • Helmet.
  • Ice axe.
  • Hiking gear for rain or shine - including warm clothing, could be cold on top.
  • Food and drink.
  • Strong legs.
  • Good lungs.
  • Dogged determination.

 

Recommended Items to Bring:
  • Gaitors.
  • Camera.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

  • Start at the parking lot at Moraine Lake.
  • >
    • Take Hwy 1 to Lake Louise.
    • Drive up to Moraine Lake.

    Notes:

    I have not designated a carpool location because of the early start - people may want to stay in Lake Louise the night before the trip.

    If you would like to carpool please contact other people on the trip and arrange it yourself.
